KGB-Keith's Fantasy Commentary:

KGB-Keith
By Keith Belling; ESVN Contributor - TowerTennis-X is having an outstanding year, with more participants than ever before. Thanks to all who make it possible, it shows there is something special and unique to the social side of DSM ATCT. On the tennis side there are only 51 matches to go! 12 people have reached a slot in the final 64, 15 have gotten a slot in the final 32, and 1 (DR) has punched a ticket to the sweet 16. 4 more wins and he will be your TT10 Champion!! Congrats DR!! (Just remember to stretch before you play...)

On the fantasy side the race shapes up to be even tighter than last year's. SV (727) leads a pack that includes BW (711) and RB (708). Then there's a pack of 6 that includes DR (683), CA, DS CD, MM and TJ. This second pack is only separated by 27 points. Sheriff Dan is occupying the caboose position. (Suffering from 'freshmanitis'?)

Just a note on who the top 3 favor: SV's main horses include CA, KS, RB and BY. These guys keep winning and he looks better all the time. BW's path to victory rests on BW, RM, DH, JG and KB. May they win often and convincingly. RB's claim to fame is with DNR, MM, TJ, ASH, and JI. He's hoping for great things from this quintet.

Round One Recap

Welcome to the Sheriff's Department (woking title), sorry for the delay but much like most of the 2nd Round matches, this article has been delayed due to inclement weather.  First, remember that the standings shown on the website are being updated as soon possible after each match is completed, so let's take a look at the true standings after completion of first round matches:

SV     246
DS     225
DR     224
RB     223
TJ       222
BW    222
CA     220
MM    210
CD     209
DM     192

SV showing true humility in his editorial guidance has asked that this post not focus on his incredible success, but rather pay more attention those middling far behind him.  So after the first round places #2-7 were only separated by 5 points, but as we can see there's still a lot of tennis left to play and scores can't be compared to years past due to the much larger number of participants in Tower Tennis X.  Up to this point it seems that the first round has created more questions than answers?  Can anyone separate from the pack to make a run at SV?  If not then what happens to "The Lobster"  Will Fantasy Tower Tennis be rocked with a scoring scandal for the second year in a row?  Do I actually know what I'm doing?  Hopefully I'll have more answers  for you in the upcoming weeks and months.

Fantasy Primer

Welcome to the Sheriff's Blotter (working title) where in the coming weeks and months I'll be updating this page with information helpful to the entrants of Fantasy Tower Tennis and hopefully entertaining to everyone else.

First we'll start with some numbers, displayed below is a chart showing the range of fantasy points assigned to each real tennis player with the average displayed as the circular, tennis-ball looking icon.

A few interesting things worth noting:
  • One fantasy entrant chose to assign Defending Champion Sopcic only the fourth-most points, while every single entrant chose to assign SV one of their 3 top spots.
  • RB has the widest range of points at a difference of 21, everywhere from 25 down to 4.  He was followed by 3 players that had a range of 19: MM (27-8), KB (22-3) and AJ (21-2)
  • HD was the highest rated Tower Tennis Rookie at 10.1, narrowly edging ZAH  at 10.0, however ZAH not only has a higher high estimate, but also a higher low estimate.
  • DH enters play with the highest average among women (15.4) a full 8 points ahead of the next female.
It looks to me that with such a wide ranges of estimates the early rounds could have a major effect on the fantasy scoring, the owner of a well-worn ball machine may be decided long before the winner of the actual Tower Tennis Championship.

Introducing Sheriff-Dan to the Fantasy TowerTennis update team:

KGB-Keith
Sheriff-Dan
Sheriff-Dan wasn't able to join the competition this year.  Sheriff-Dan severely injured his ankle awhile back, and still needs time for the steel rods to strengthen his shattered limb.  Meanwhile, Sheriff-Dan has agreed to participate with weekly summaries on the Fantasy competition!

As each round completes, new possibilities emerge for Fantasy Players!  Look to this page for insight from both KGB-Keith and Sheriff-Dan!
